- because in the world of today there is so much that drains, diminishes and distracts us. Trying to keep up with it all often leaves us dead on our feet and blind to one another. Encountering Mercy heals, restores and brings us back to life.
- because sometimes, without ever intending to, we live in a way that hurts our world, one another and ourselves. It’s hard to live with pain and shame and guilt and not want to ignore it or hide from it. Through the eyes of Mercy we find compassion for our vulnerable humanity, healing for our hurt and see that we matter, no matter what.
- because often the mess seems too great and everything seems overwhelming and impossible for us alone. In Mercy we come to know God’s Heart, moved by our pain, tending to our wounds, awakening our hearts and bringing us home to ourselves, to one another and to LOVE.
Through scripture and story this Lenten reflection will explore ways of encountering and cultivating Mercy in our lives amid life’s inevitable challenges. We will reflect on the qualities of Mercy: compassion, patience, kindness, tenderness and forgiveness and explore practical ways of integrating them into our lives without stress or strain.
